Failed Backlight Strip Samsung QN82Q6FNAF

Block Image

Looking to pick up this 82” qLED Samsung TV from craigslist with a bad LED strip for $500.

I’ve been trying to find replacement strips for the backlight but haven’t been able to find anything — could be I don’t know what to look for. Are these strips generic? Furthermore, I’ve heard this repair can be tricky but I’ve got soft touch.

Is this purchase a bad idea? Where could I find strips?

Thanks

Were you able to fix it? I’m having the same problem right now.

I found a shop who claimed to be able to in Sacramento, CA. Most wont touch a TV of this size

Have you fixed this?

Ammon Kaopua nice TV great price. You are looking for either a backlight strip or a backlight array. I bet these are still hard to find since it is a Samsung specific technology. (Quantum dot LED) A display technology that uses phosphorescent crystals to improve the LED backlight on an LCD TV. Only one for replacement I've found is on here

It’s a very big panel so make sure you keep it absolutely flat while you work on it. The larger the panel the easier it is to flex and crack. $500 plus ~$200 for the strip and lots of time while repairing it will give you an excellent TV.

Appreciate the response. I think I'll go for it. How hard is this repair going to be? I haven't found any specific guides on this tv but will it be similar to the generic videos on youtube? Can I trust some small mom & pop shop to do this repair or should I consider sending it in to an authorized repair shop?

Thanks again!

EDIT: Any videos I find of the samsung QLED teardowns have the screens glued down to the panel underneath. Is there anyway if I can find out if this is actually repairable before buying it?

Thanks

Shipping that size TV will be a daunting task. I'd see if there is anybody you can physically take it too. Yes, mom & pop shops will be a great resource.

Let me check the manual to see if it says anything about the panel.
