Updated version of the 2016 Retina MacBook. Model A1534, EMC 3099. Now features faster Kaby Lake processors up to 1.4 GHz Core i7 with Turbo Boost up to 3.6 GHz and up to 50 percent faster SSD, and supports up to twice the memory.

It wont turn on.

So a friend of mine had me look at their macbook after apple said that the logic board was broken and it would be 600 to fix it. I then opened it up and all I did was plug in the keyboard and it booted normally. I gave it back to the friend and about a week later got it back, now its not charging. I am not sure what is wrong with it at this point. It seems weird to me for it to be the logic board as it was working before. Any ideas?? Should I pull out the multimeter and start testing the board?

Hello, sounds like the laptop has been opened up and played with by someone else before you?

How many hands has the laptop been passed through before getting to you?

If you fix it again, I guarantee it won't be long before it comes back to you for yet another repair.

Get your 'friend' to take it to Apple, they'll explain what's wrong with it.

Regards

Try resetting the SMC.

If something goes pear-shaped with the power, the SMC 'trips' and cuts out the power.

Connect to power. Hold left shift, left control, left option and the power button for about 7 seconds.

Release. Wait 2 seconds. Then try powering it on.

Sometimes it naturally resets after half a year or so if the battery runs out of power.

You can also try:

unplugging the battery

press the power button so it tries to boot up for half a second. This is to drain the motherboard's capacitors fully.

Plug battery back in.

Try booting

If this works, or doesn't work, let me know so we can go from there.

Good Luck
