Optical drive IF173-066-1 makes eject sound every 75s when sleeping

I replaced the optical drive in my iMac 2428 with the replacement part sold on iFixit. When the computer is asleep, the drive actuates like it is ejecting a disc every 75 seconds. Have already reset PRAM and SMC.

What is the part you order and your MacOS release?

You may need to return the drive.

@dlvalente - I think you got a messed up drive, contact the iFixit Store folks for an exchange.

What I didn’t try before replacing the drive is a lens cleaner. The Superdrive fails to mount and ejects DVDs most of the time. But not always. Think that is worth trying first?
