Replacing the palm rest...?

Is the base identical between the all metal and alcantara models? I would love to get the Cobalt Blue model, and then replace the alcantara palm rest with the matte black metal palm rest (seeing as it’s so easy to remove/replace). Would this be possible?

Hi, did you find a solution to this ? I want to do the same thing (replace my Alcantara cover with a metal one)

This question is asked on multiple different forums but none seem to have a definitive answer.

Doing some research by watching teardown video’s and photo’s will give you a good indication and then you just have to go for it.

And if it’s an easy task to replace the keyboard you can order a new one somewhere with the option to return it. You take of the keyboard and compare it with the new one. If the’re identical you can replace it. Just make sure to document it and share it for the benefit of others :).
