Will not take pictures when the shutter button is pressed.

When I press the sgutter button in AF Mode, the lens auto focuses, and the licht next to the shutter button conec on, but the shutter never opens to take the picture. Batteries and film are new, was working, and all of a sudden stopped. What could cause this?

You may have a stuck shutter. I guess its time to disassemble it and to check on the camera's internal light sealing foam, which degrades over time and can get stuck to the shutter.
