Screen going dim, taking out battery temp-fixes it.

Hello!

I'm trying to figure out what is happening to a MacBook Air that has an issue with the monitor going dim (I can barely see what's on the screen). If I take out the battery, it goes back to normal until it happens again (days later). No PRAM reset helps. What do you think is going on?
