PS4 Controller model CUH-ZCT1. Released in November 2013 by Sony Computer Entertainment, this six-axis, 3.7 V lithium ion battery controller is uncomplicated to repair. (NOTE: Teardown guide is NOT for this model)

Controller not reading battery correctly?

I have two controllers, let’s call them Controller A and B.

Controller A is perfectly fine, it charges as normal. Battery A is fully charged.

Controller B shows a yellow light and can turn on when the micro-USB is inserted HOWEVER it immediately turns off as soon as I remove the micro-USB cable.

Today I put Battery B into Controller A and PS4 says the battery is dead. Currently charging the controller and Battery B IS recharging.

However after placing Battery A into Controller B, the Controller stays on for like 2 seconds then turns off. PS4 says Dualshock is disconnected, charge the battery. I’ve placed the Controller on charge but after 5 minutes I removed it and the controller won’t turn on. Just to reiterate Battery A is fully charged.

So what’s the issue with Controller B and how can I fix it?

I have this issue too, and I regret raging because I'm 99% sure me hitting my controller because of stick drift is the problem. At this point you and me should just buy a new controller. Funny thing is I had this controller for 2 months and in the first week I experienced stick drift. &&^& Sony at this point.

Update: Controller completely doesn't charge/turn on anymore. The only thing I can suggest is to replace to motherboard. That might be expensive and you could potentially mess up the controller even more if you don't know what you're doing. Buy a new one just to be safe. That's what I'm going to do.

I’m experiencing the same problem. My controller charges the battery but if I disconnect the usb cable, the PS4 says the battery is low and it disconnects.

Did you managed to find a solution? The battery pins on the motherboard are receiving the 4.12V from the battery
