Charger not worker after DC in board replacement

I have just replaced the dc in board in my mac after it stopped recognising my charger and I'd have to jiggle it to get it to work.

Problem is now I can't get it to work at all.

I have a late 2011 MBP 8,1. 2.4 Ghz, i5.

The part I bought was a cheapie off ebay so I have reinstalled the old one and ordered a new charger. (The chargers not genuine either but I'm hoping to see if that's the issue before I purchase the apple one)

My battery also needs replacing and has been running off service battery for quite some time - it has 897 cycles.

Also when installing the dc in board I also cleaned the inside & replaced the thermal paste. So, I fear I might have damaged something trying to repair it but everything looks fine.

Background.

About a year ago I started to notice the performance of my laptop was slowing down, it got to the point a few months ago where it was unusable.

After reading a lot of helpful advice on this forum, I downloaded etre check and found my hard drive was failing. So, I've replaced it with an ssd and upgraded the RAM.

Was very happy that it was performing like normal again until the charger stopped working.

My question is, will replacing the existing battery, charger & possibly dc in board solve my problem?

Or is it even worth it now my machine is considered vintage & doesn't get upgrades?

Thanks in advance,

Millie.
