Extract ISO File on Mac Catalina

I bought a new Mac and find out an issue that some of the ISO files can not opened, like linux ISO. However, when I double click the Windows ISO, it mounts automatically.

Disk Utility is able to open the ISO file, but I still don't know if it can extract ISO files safely.

Instead, I would use a professional ISO file extraction software like these:

You can get one of them to extract iso file on your Mac.

Depending on what the ISO image is you may require a dedicated disk to expand them. As an example some game images have protection schemes which need to own the disk (CD/DVD) Others are not compatible with the macOS file structure (require MS Windows or Linux).

If you open Disk Utility’s help file you’ll find more info
