Touch Screen not working after replacement

Hi, so I replaced my screen and now the touch is not working really. If I disconnect the home button cable that is attached to the screen, the touch works, but I can’t get past the setup screen since I have to use the home button.

I am not sure why the touch works when only one of the screen cables is connected. Any help would be great!

This is a common problem with the iPhone 8 series caused by the ground pins at the end of the home button connector being pushed in. If you have some sort of magnification you should be able to pry them out into their normal position.

Different screen manufacturers use a different Architecture. If those ground pins are pushed in it might only affect certain screens.

Thank you! Is this the one on the motherboard or the cable in the screen?

It's on the motherboard

Thank you, but sometimes you may need to replace the entire connector.

The top cable is for the earpiece speaker and proximity sensor. Middle connection is for the screen including touch. The bottom connector is for the home button. I would disconnect the battery and check the connections with a magnifying glass and see if you have any damaged pins. If they are fine I would clean the connectors with a qtip and alcohol and a soft brush, reconnect and check it.

Update (05/21/2020)

You could have damaged them while installing them. It's possible and the best way to find what is wrong is to make sure that everything else works until you get to the last possibility. And I have put on multiple screens on iPhone 8 plus and it has nothing to do with Apple. It's something that happened during the screen change or a defective part.

I can't see why there would be an issue with the pins since the old screen works just fine. I read something about Apple not enabling people to change screens on Iphone 8 + , but I am not sure if that is still true.

Do you think it's possible I need to try a different new screen and see if that one works?
