Recently found my old mp3 player, a philips GoGear Mix 4GB and I really hope I can fix it but it doesn’t react when I plug it into my computer and press the reset button. If anyone has any advice on how to start I’d greatly appreciate it.

I had the same problem with mine. After running a couple of tests with the multimeter I found that the control circuit for the battery was dead. After replacing it I also cleaned the pins and made sure they were not short circuiting the board. It now works as it did before the fix was needed. Hope this helps!

How did you take it apart though? I've been trying to figure that out for a while and haven't had any luck. Much thanks if you could help me out.
Simply pry open the top display glass with thin strip. It is just glued. Below it you will find 2 screws
Hi Guys, my phillips gogear 8gb is still working thankfully but I lack the know-how to add new music on to it since the newer laptops don't have software capabilities. Any ideas?
What is the model number of your mp3 player?
Have you tried installing the software for the device (example only, don't know if this is your model or not) and then checked if it connected OK?
If it doesn't work or it won't install correctly, try installing the software in "compatibility mode for Win7" and check if that works.
Just a thought.
