Upgraded RAM - CPU temps are a lot higher now
Hi,
I have upgraded the RAM in my Mac mini from 8GB to 64GB.
All is good, however I have noticed that the CPU temperatures a lot higher now. Also, the smallest action will make the temperature jump up to 90C (for a split second, before it comes down again)
Any idea why this is happening? I had to remove the fan to install the RAM, but it is tightly screwed back in.
Thanks

Is the fan running? Can you hear it? BTW, RAM produces lots of heat!

Hello there, the fan is running yeah. It will spin up really fast to cool down the CPU. Issue is more, my CPU is now reaching 90C (for things that previously it would not reach 90C) - hence I am wondering if I have done something wrong during the RAM upgrade. Thanks

Did you replace the thermal paste after removing the fan and reinstalling it?

No, I didn't remove the heatsink, just the fan (to install the RAM)

oh okay. The jump from 8 to 64GB of ram could have caused it to raise the temperature. The mac minis are pretty restricted anyways. You could try upgrading the fan possibly?
