Will not turn on. Still charges. NO response to RSM.

This mac was repaired 7 months ago by Apple with a (hopefully) new logic board replacement. It has since died whilst operating google sketch up software. Not a complex model and no high quality 3D renders were being processed, it just shut off with no warning. The only sign of life left is the charging light on the Mag charger.

It has not responded to any combination of shift+ alt + ctrl + power, ctrl + R + power to reset system management.

Anybody got any ideas what’s wrong with it?

What is the color of your MagSafe adapter? Amber or Green.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

It is green at the moment of plug in, and then turns amber. If I do the shift+ctrl+alt power 10 seconds, release power, the MagSafe turns green again shortly before going back to amber @danj

OK, let's get a better view of your battery and charger, install this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window with your charger plugged in and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question

It’s not on the App Store and if I download it from my phone it saves as zip file. How am I meant to use it with my Mac when it won’t turn on and if I can’t use my phone.

I did check the battery a few days ago and the system report stated it had run 550 or so cycles and the battery was functioning as normal.

Sorry, I thought it was working off charger. Clearly CoconutBattery won't help you diagnose things.

Let's just let it charge for a good six hours does the MagSafe get to Green?

Well you are in a pickle here ;-{

I would go back to Apple (where you got the system serviced before) as it clearly is dead as a doornail now. But that’s likely tricky as they are closed due to the virus outbreak. You only other hope here is visiting an independent repair shop. Can you give us an idea where you live so we can aim you to someone.

You may need a new logic board.

I live in northern England and I got the logic board replaced at the Apple store in Melbourne, Australia. The repair warranty for the replacement logic board unfortunately ran out last month. All the Apple stores here are closed but I do know a few repair shops which from knowledge are still aloud to stay open. Private repair from now on. Thanks for your help

Ouch! I would still give Apple a call (UK) to log it, they maybe able to have you ship it to the local repair depot. Apple has covered under repair warranty when the system is just out of coverage. Be polite, it's worth the call to try.

I spent a fair amount of time in Edinburgh and traveled around Scotland, beautiful country!
