Scanner scans rainbow vertical lines

HP Deskjet 3520. The scanner scans rainbow vertical lines over a black background. I tried this with a random windows program and the HP software. The printer is connected via USB. Im pretty sure its the scanner, but dont know which part exactly, or how its called to search for a replacement.
