No Signal To TV

I found my mother’s old Nintendo in our basement last night. It has power, but the red light just flashes red. What does this mean?

A flashing red light means that the system believes there is no game cartridge inserted. If there is actually no cartridge inserted, this is intentional, and not necessarily an indicator of a problem. If it’s still blinking when a game is inserted, the metal contacts on the game aren’t all correctly touching the matching contacts on the console’s 72-pin connector. Clean the cartridge with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol, then try again, removing the game and re-inserting it multiple times if needed. If the red light still blinks, it means that 72-pin connector needs adjusting or replacement.
