Nutribullet motor not activating

I have had my Nutribullet for two years and I’ve really enjoyed using it. A few days ago I noticed that it was getting a little bit finicky—I would press it down and turn it but would also have to jingle the cup around in the base to get the motor going. The motor might stop and I would have to finagle the cup in the base to get it running again.

Now, as you might have guessed, it has just completely stopped working. I put the cup into the base, press down, turn (it even makes a soft click sound), and it simply doesn’t run. To be clear, the activator tabs seem to move through their full range of motion and are NOT stuck.

I’m hoping to be able to fix this because I can’t find my proof of purchase so it won’t be elligible for any warranty.

I took it apart and found that the plastic piece that holds the white tabs in place was broken. Without that piece holding the white tab in place, the white tab could not activate the sensor which in turn activates the motor.

Can you not just disconnect the red and black cables from the activator and join them together, eliminating the need for that activator to complete the circuit
