iPod displays folder icon error

I have a 4th generation 20gb iPod (mono) that is displaying the folder error icon. So I have replaced the logic board. I have also replaced the original drive with a iFlash-ATA1 adapter and a Samsung 128gb SD.

After all that, the iPod still displays the folder error and my computer does not see the iPod when it is connected.

Any ideas about what I should/can do next?

Thanks

@sneatonscott your computer most likely will not recognize it since you have no firmware/OS on the iPod drive. I suggest you try it with a regular HDD first and then see what it tells you.

I did try that first. I had the same problem. But I’ll try it again.

But if nothing changes, do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Have you tried to place it into diagnostic mode with a HDD installed?
