Apple's third-generation smartwatch, with optional cellular connectivity, released September 22, 2017.

Apple Watch series 3 no touch after screen replacement

I recently replaced the screen on my Apple Watch series 3 Nike + edition. The screen comes on and the buttons work but there is no reaction from the device when I touch the screen. I have tried force restarting it dozens of times and it has changed nothing. The old broken screen does not work at all so I believe that trying to use the old digitizer will not work. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like either the display assembly was defective or the cable connection from the SIP was not fully inserted and latched or was damaged.

I have tried reseating the cables a couple of times and that hasn't changed anything, unfortunately, so I am beginning to wonder if there is another component that might be damaged or if the unit is now useless

I went back and tried your solution and to my surprise, it worked! I can't believe it was that simple of a solution, thank you!

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

What exactly was the solution? @Blake Russell

@chi.areadj - Either the cable was not fulled inserted or the display unit was defective.

Blake what was it that you did exactly? I am having the same problem…I can’t get touch to work. The touch cable appears to be seated into the connector…I’m stumped

Hi Jerrod, did you ever resolve the problem with your watch? I have the same issue.

For me the solution was update the firmware and after the touchscreen start to work fine.

I purchased one of these sapphire screens for series 3. Screen works but in constant restore loop. Firmware upgrade fails each time also

I had the same issue after replacing my Apple Watch screen. The display worked, but touch didn’t. It turned out the digitizer wasn’t fully connected. After reseating the cable, touch functionality returned. Check the connections, and that might solve it!
