Overheating near the HDMI port
When powered on the device gets hot on the top-left corner near where the HDMI connector. I don’t think that it is the LCD cable port.

I think this model allows disassembly so that you can actually look at the components in that part of the Chromebook? Check on this site or YouTube for a tear down.

Check your cable or socket at HDMI for any loose contact or dirt. Clean -and Just test it with a new cable.

Is something actually plugged into the HDMI port (are you using the HDMI)?
