don't worry, when you said you had a usb voltmeter I thought you were a technician or repairer .... usually this type of equipment is not in the possession of "non-industry" people ... I have attached photos of the jumper from run to solve the charging problem
check if you see the varistor component is burnt...try to change it

Dovresti cercare il service manual completo…all interno della sezione “troubleshot” individua il codice del componente e poi cercalo nella sezione “partlist”…c è una codifica smd del componente…con quel codice dovresti cercare in rete uno simile…
Make a jumper directly from sub board to mainboard of the 5volt line like i had posted month ago….and you solve your issue

Hi there, We have a similar problem: My son has a samsung a40 (UK) after only having it for a few months the phone stopped charging. We bought a new cable and checked socket etc but still nothing. We contacted the provider who told us to take it to car phone warehouse. They said that it was a faulty charging port and that it wasn't covered under warranty. They also said that they will wipe the phone should we chose to have them repair it, as this was their standard procedure. My son had not been able to back his phone up as it had died at this point and didnt want them to wipe it. So, as I have repaired a fair few phones in the past, I bought the part (a small circuit board pba) and easily swapped them over, however, the phone was still not charging. I even bought a second one just in case the part was faulty, but it still won't charge. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kindest regards Claire xx

Hello,
I have a similar problem. I have my A40 for around 7 months, 3 weeks ago i got a problem with usb, it wasn’t charging at all. I tried anything from, safe mode to another adapters and cables but no result. I bought a new usb board and replaced it. For a week it wasn’t having any issues. And today when I woke up i took my phone and it had no battery and didn’t want to charge again.
