Why does more than half of my bottom screen go black in cold weather?

Whenever my phone screen gets cold from weather or even just being in car with A/C on, more than half of bottom screen goes black. If im at home, I use hair dryer on screen to get it working. If Im in car, I hold it in front of vent with heater on. This happens everytime screen gets cold Do I need to buy it a sweater or something? How do I fix this nonsense?

Hi @phil_a_show,

It could be a loose screen flex cable connection to the motherboard or worst case scenario, a problem in the LCD screen itself.

Cold temperatures make metal contract and it may be losing contact for a good electrical connection.

Here’s a link to the ifixit Samsung Galaxy S7 Screen Replacement guide, which will help you to open the phone so that the flex cable connection can be checked.

If the problem is in the LCD screen itself, then the screen will have to be replaced as it cannot be repaired.

If opening the phone seems too daunting, contact a reputable, professional mobile phone repair service and ask for a quote.
