The Time Capsule Model A1302 is the second generation of Apple's wireless router and networked storage device released in March 2009. Most information from these repair and disassembly guides also applies to the original Model A1254.

Can I replace the existing hard drive with a larger model?

Can i swap out the existing hard drive in my Apple Airport extreme base station / Time Machine - 500GB disc with a larger 2 TB disc? Can you do a tear down of this unit to see if this is possible and if any other parts are replaceable? Thanks!

Are you sure do don't mean Time Capsule? That is an Airport Extreme with built in hard drive. There is a good guide here:

Apple Time Capsule Model A1302 Hard Drive Replacement

and depending on your model you can change the hard drive up to 3TB.

Sorry, and you are quite correct - it is a time capsule! Probably why I couldn't find a tear down as I wasn't looking for the proper product. Thanks so much!
