Bought a headset from a friend. cable leading to the HDMI and USB split was badly twisted some how and I believe there is a broken wire. Any suggestions? PC identifies headset, and I am able to get sound and tracking. But no visuals within the headset itself.

@p5ychojoe13 use a sharp box cutter (razor blade etc.) then gently cut a lengthwise slot into the out insulation only. You can now either pull the inside wires out of the insulation or cut the insulation away. Inspect the wires for any obvious broken strands. Use a multimeter the check each wire for continuity. If you have a broken wire, you can cut the broken part out and reconnect the wire via soldering and some heat shrink tubing.

anyways get the following items in your local hardware store.
Do it like this video but when you cut the wire like my picture insert the shrink tube first once all the wires are connected and solder you can align the shrink tube in the middle of the wires and use the lighter to shrink it instead of the electrical tape like the video

Is it possible to lengthen ( from 4 meters to 6 or 8 meters) a broken cable by cutting and replacing all the individual wires? Basically, attaching new wires to the connectors on each end of the existing cable. I've been selling working cables and requiring mailing your broken cable to me for a credit against selling price. I am starting to accumulate a number of non working cables. The goal is to refurbish and lengthen the cables and wrap with PET afterwards.
Ariel I am considering the same. 150 USD for a cable is profiteering at its worst but the demand is there. Class action law suit of Oculus does not share fixes and repair options. I love their product but this is so shameful. Maybe they will send me a free quest till they get a fix, lol!
Yea sadly Oculus response has been we no longer make the cable however they sold refurbished models during the pendemic to people and law states they have to provide 3 months of replacement parts for each headset which they are not doing not only does this warrent a class action lawsuit this completely warrents one because under law they have to produce parts and accessories for a product as long as the products are still in use on there software which they are

I have similar problem with sound playing and pc picking it up with the sensor on headset working when placing fingers close but it won't let set up happen and pc then doesn't recognize it iv ran along the wire and felt a worn out part any help
