Ifixit replacement battery 98% new, 95% after one week?
So my Macbook Pro battery was going completely dead under load at 65% when I opened FCPX, just loading the program drew too much power, also Apple batt indicated “service battery”. Bought the ifixit battery replacement kit for $110, spent the 3 hours replacing the battery, and did the calibration process. Charge up to green LED, contoinue charging 2 more hours, remove charger, turn on, let it run down on its own, then leave to shut down, then 5 hours, then charge back to full. Capacity read only 98% after that initial calibration. Computer would get to around 50%, then instant drop to 7%. That is like 4000mah indicated on Coconut down to 700mah instantly. After it completed that 1st calibration, a few days passed, I ran a 2nd calibration, and the results were the same, 98% capacity, and that weird drop from 50ish% down to 7%. Few more days pass, it’s this morning, I am charged up +2hrs, unplugged, and in the proces of running down the battery again…only that initial chargup coconut battery says the ifixit battery only has 95% (8300mah of 8755mah design) capacity with 7 charges. I bought this new battery to sell my Macbook, but how will a buyer respond when I tell them it has a new battery but they see 95% full capacity and that drop to 7%. Is this battery bad? I would hate to have to return and redo a 3 hour replacement process again. I should mention I also reset the SMC a few days ago hoping that would clear whatever was causing the battery reading issues, but no dice. :(

Still discharging, it was at 35%, I opened activity monitor and INSTANTLY, it went from 35% to that dreaded 7% 558mah! Making things worse, the design capacity has also dropped instantly from 95% 8300mah to 92% 8000mah and says 8 charges!

Now 1 hour later, still saying 7% with 500mah remaining. Is it possible for the little computer chip or controller on the ifixit battery to be defective, and not the battery cells themselves? My battery drain mechanism is simply leaving my Chrome browser open and brightness at 50%.

Now on my 11th cycle, coconutbattery says I am down to 86% of designed capacity at full charge...was 89% at 10th cycle, and 92% at 8th. ifixit sent a replacement battery right away, and I will try to install the replcement replacement this weekend. I wonder how sticky the ifixit battery glue is compared to Apple...maybe I can just pry it out without full logic board removal?
