Firestick settings, audio, Turn Dolby Digital Plus to OFF
that worked for me straight away..

I've just done the opposite and that worked too, switched Dolby on !
This worked.... Thanks!
I had to restart it every time I turned it on, but when I turned on the Dolby Digital, the noise disappeared, I no longer have to restart it every time I turn on the fire stick!! Thanks
thanks for this, it worked on mine
Finally look at the sound settings on your TV. For many Brands, simply setting the television to digital can address the audio issue.

Videos playing with sound live tv isn't? Plus is off tried with stereo and best available?
I know this is sometime after the last answer but. I am writing June 2023. I had an exyended grumble when people were speaking. I tried all the settings in various arrangements. No change. While the firestick was playing I went into my tv audio settings and turned one off and adjusted some levels. That worked.
I’ve had this problem so I went on audio settings and clicked on surround sound and changed it to PCM and it works fine now.

Thank you so much for sharing this info!! I tried every other suggestion and yours was actually helpful. :D
Thank you from me, too! Netflix and Prime Video sound was fine, Sling and some other apps terrible. Hard to troubleshoot when a receiver is in the mix, but when I read the description of the PCM option, it made sense. More importantly, it worked!
Sounds working on video but not live tried stereo and best available and Dolby plus switched off

My firestick does the same thing, however, it usually happens after I’ve been watching for about 30 min. I’ll try turning the Dolby off and on. Thank you!

I experienced gurgling audio twice .. both tunes switched source then back to fire stick and it corrected itself both times ... but something wrong that this has to be continually done ... software is up to date

That's what I have to do. I get out of the Firestick and then go back on and the sound is fixed. It's very annoying though to continuously have to do this.
