The Epson Artisan 1430 is a color inkjet photo printer.

paper and ink lights both flash together

My EPSON 1430 ‘s paper and ink lights flash on and off in sync with each other and I can’t do any printing. I am not getting any on-screen error messages so not sure how to fix this error condition

Look in Owners manual. Can find on line. It will say that this means the ink pads are full and the printer is at end of service life and to contact Epson. They will tell you to buy a new printer. Go to Youtube and search for “reset Artisan 1430”. You will find info on resetting lights and installing a waste ink tank. Sort of designed obsolescence I think.

Update: found service manual with details on waste ink pad replacement:https://www.4shared.com/archive/Cm2eWu2p...

Waste tank install is probably easier and better long term. than messy pad replacement.

Hi Roderick !

Research I just did.

This would be a problem with the printer's stamps:

Explanation of LED error codes available here.

There's this video that explains how to solve the anomaly.

Blow out the paper feed area with a can of compressed air. This fixed mine after I was in panic mode.

There must have been dust or some small, unseen debris setting the sensor off. Hope this works for you.

Thin strip of paper appeared when I gave a little blast and BOOM, back in business!

This was also my problem - just a little scrap of paper was stuck!

Another trick...before turning it on, open the upper paper tray (see pic), then close it after printer starts up. This seems to stop the 2 light blinking problem. I don't know why.
