The Google Pixel is Google's first flagship phone, released on October 20, 2016. The 5-inch AMOLED display device comes with 32 and 128 GB storage options and is available in three colors; Very Silver, Quite Black, and Really Blue.

foam padding underneath display is significantly damaged and uneven

I was replacing the battery and made the mistake of going too far in and damaged the LCD. I’ve already replaced the battery and ordered a new display assembly but I noticed that the foam padding underneath the display (the one with the Xs) has peeled off significantly. A lot of it is stuck to display and other parts has been scratched or rubbed off, by me.

Does the foam padding have any function? Should I just remove the rest of the padding?

Hello,

Ask this to yourself. Is it worth it getting rid of the foam or is it needed? Because it all comes down to it. The foam is there for a reason and if that’s going to be a problem you should send it for repair. If the cost is too high then it’s all up to you want to do with it. Hope it helps.

Cheers!

I don't know if it's worth getting rid of the foam. I would like to know the function. If the phone doesn't function because of the foam, then the display I bought and battery are worthless because it'll be more expensive to replace, if it's even possible at all.

So the if the foam function is important, then I should just return the display that I bought.

The phone will function with the foam but most likely you are going to be using a phone that might get fried because there’s nothing protecting the screen and the rest of the phone. This is a risk to your safety and others if you use the phone like that, there’s a reason why it’s there. If it doesn’t work for you then return the screen and get it repaired somewhere or buy a new one. The price of doing both will be different and it might not be worth it but look around google things and decide for yourself.

Cheers!
