PS3 Super Slim will not turn on, no lights

My Red God of War PS3 Super Slim will no longer turn on. I recently moved and finally pulled it out of the box. It turned on briefly and then immediately shut off. I troubleshot the system and determined the power supply was dead. I ordered a new power supply, installed it, and the console turned on briefly and shut off again. I took the entire thing apart and put it back together again thinking maybe there was a short somewhere. It still will not turn on and no lights come on on the front. Is the motherboard dead?

I have the same problem with my friend superslim console.

I don't think it's bga because i got some bga faulty ps3 before and never does this any of that consoles.

I think some transistor or capacitor died on the motherboard,

i don't have a multimeter so i need to wait until sunday, my nephew bring one and i check everything on the board.

The system board ended up being dead. I bought a new PS3 and just moved the hard drive over.

hey mahn it was a problem of power ac in mother board but u can bypass it who repairs a ps3 it would have to spend about $54.73 approx and the power supply was so good i have the same problem it was repaireable one so dont worry thank you

Is it going red light to yellow light then flashing red light when trying to turn it on?

If yes the main processor has overheated. There's no fix for this other than a reflow which will only allow the console to last a few months longer.

Imo better move on to a PS4.

I get no lights at all when I plug it in. I've already got a PS4, but I still use my PS3 for older games and some of the games I purchased off the PSN.

Hey I know this is more than a year old but I thought I’d ask in hopes you could answer. You mention that your PS3 was dead and you just moved the hard drive over. I thought you couldn’t transfer hard drives on these systems because they’re specifically linked to the system itself. How did you manage to move your hard drive over without losing all your data?

I did have to format the drive and reinstall everything. The ps3 drivers are essentially encrypted and bound to the system. That was unfortunate. I’d let my PSPlus subscription lapse and ended up losing a large chunk of my save games.

Ohhhh I see. So it sounds like even though you swapped the drives, you still lost your saves? Darn. I'm in a similar predicament and I'm praying to the gods that I can salvage my saved data.
