E5 error code but the lid is off

I keep getting an E5 error code, even with the lid off while using the brown/saute setting. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Amy Springer did you make sure that the Steam Release Valve is in the “Release” (open) position before starting the cooking cycle.

The lid is not even on it. I was using it on the brown/saute setting. Therefore, I did not put on the lid. Taking the lid off would not solve my problem, as the lid was never on in the first place. I still keep getting an E5 error code, which according to the manual, means there is something wrong with the lid. However, I didn't have the lid on and I'm wondering if there is a sensor or something I can replace or another way to fix it?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

I’ve got exactly the same issue. Does anyone actually have an answer if the lid is NOT on?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

I am having this problem too! It won’t cook anything, just keeps showing E5 and I’m not using the lid, i just want to brown the meat. Can someone help?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Has this been resolved yet? I’ve used mine only a few times & now getting this error message. All the functions on the left hand side aren’t working

Amy Springer  This code appears when either the lid or Steam Release Valve is being used incorrectly for a non-pressure cook setting. Please note that the lid should never be used when using the Brown/Sauté setting.

When using the lid during the Slow Cook or Yogurt settings, the Steam Release Valve must be turned to the open or “Release” position.

If you receive the E5 Notification during any of these situations, then simply remove the lid while using Brown/Sauté, or correctly position Steam Release Valve to “Release” while using Slow Cooking or Yogurt, and then unplug the unit for at least 5 seconds, re-plug it in and re-program your cook settings to begin cooking. from here

Is anyone actually reading the question? She already said she's not using the lid. None of what is being suggested is remotely helpful.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

The lid is open, I keep plugging and unplugging and the E5 is still showing... after 2yrs I guess it’s time for a new one... I use it almost every day

The picture below is for the Aroma Rice Cooker unit. It is on the outside where the base and the lid hinge when opened. Unplug unit. Remove clear drain cover and unscrew single screw. Pop off black cover. There are two black wires which run from the lid to the base. I just centered them (they were off to the side and getting pinched each time we opened the lid), and then used electrical tape to pin them down and keep them stable. Slip cover back on, rescrew, and you're good to go! Thank you minhdvu2002 for a successful solution!

I actually just split the wires and placed them in the niche space to separate them, and did not tape it down, and it worked.

It won’t heat up, that’s the problem. I put the oil in and hit Heat and up comes that annoying E message which refers to the lid but the lid is open as it should be for sautéing.

Same issue with my crockpot pressure cooker. So I pulled out the cooking pot and pressed the pot sensor switch a few times and now it's heating up again and no E5 code. Edit. I went to start slow cooking after I used the brown/sear and the code came back. I suspect the safety switch at the bottom is the culprit. So I am trying the slow cooker setting and I have put a small flat washer on top of the switch. My theory is that the button is not being pushed in enough or my pot might be bowing up enough to not push the button down properly.
