The Kenmore 110 Series is an easy to use home Washing machine created by Kenmore.

Unbalanced load after replacing suspension rods

Our washer has been vibrating crazily recently, even after having replaced the suspension rods. Any other suggestions to fix this problem ourselves?

how do you use a egg crate to put around a washing machine to keep it from vibrating

When the suspension rods wear out it can cause the center tube to seal/bearing too also wear and leak. Rust forms on the drive shaft. Basically everything under the agitator or wash plate is damaged. The rust on the drive shaft won’t allow the basket to drop into position completely or float up into position. This causes the basket to bounce and go off balance, even without any clothes in it. The parts needed are the gear case w/drive shaft, tub seal, hub assembly. If the wash plate is rusted to the shaft, it might need to be replaced. These washer last about 6 - 10 years.

hi am john (uk) on a washing machine you have 2 dampers / as you call them suspension rods but i know what you mean but they are only there to assist the springs that attach to the drum if the springs have gone weak they need replaced really should do them all together dampers & spring’s see the the springs take the full load of whatever you have in the machine its the same as a car / motor vehicle the springs hold the car off the road the shock absorbers help take the thud out of a heavy bump in the road! hope that helps you out the springs will be attached to the drum and the top of the washing machine casing normally just under the top cover

Thanks John. I’ve already replaced the four suspension rods, but it hasn’t seemed to help in the least. Feels as if the drum is just floating freely, although I know the suspension rods are attached and are brand new.

I replaced the suspension rods on my Kenmore series 100 top load washing machine, but the washing machine still bangs during the spin cycle. What else should I check where other than suspension rods?
