Why is my JBL Flip 3 permanently showing a full charge?

I recently replaced the battery in my JBL Flip 3 and it works, but it shows as having 5 bars of charge (which is a full charge) even when it is most certainly not fully charged. This wouldn’t be a big deal, but it automatically stops charging shortly after being plugged in just because it’s battery is “full.”
