Backlight flickers whenever display is at certain angles

First off, my laptop is actually a U505, not 405. There’s no listing for it, so I had to choose this.

As my question says, the backlight will occasionally die whenever the display’s at a certain angle. It also will sometimes cut out and the laptop has to be restarted to get it back.

The hinges are loose, and I can’t seem to find the original screws.

It is likely the power wires going to the backlight. The position of the hinge will vary the stress on these wires. Take off the shroud around the screen and look at the wires going to the backlight. The wires are usually white & pink. These wires carry high voltage so be sure to remove the battery pack prior to touching them.
