How to wake up external disk without unplugging it and recon

Hello

My computer have external hard disk connected to it.

Sometimes the disk is disconnected when I'm copying big files.

If I unplug the usb and then reconect it the disk shows up again.

The problem is that the computer is in the office and I have to drive there and do it.

Is ther any other way to wake up the disk remotely?

Are you able to launch the servers Disk Management program remotely from your home system? To see if it can kick start things.

I don't have access to a Windows server presently. I think you'll need to review the settings within it for the USB port and/or what Western Digital can offer you within its driver.

You maybe expecting more than what this drive can offer you on a server system. Have you looked at expanding your systems internal storage (SATA drive)?
