My jbl charge 2 speaker does not hold a charge. Once disconnected from the usb power, it dies out. What can it be…. battery or charging port?

One way to check is to check the voltage of the internal battery inside. If the voltage is too Low, there is a probability that the battery might be defective.
There are other consideration as mentioned if the charging circuit if it is working well, etc.
Check the battery voltage with a multimeter first :)

Have the same issue. Replaced battery but doesn't help. It can turn on and connect to my phone but no sound. Dunno whats the problem.
Did you put it on charge and forget to remove?. These problem occurs only when we over charged our appliances.
If not, there is also a chance that your connecting wire has some problem.
Otherwise, I think It was harmed by changing the AC voltage current.
