Can I use this hard drive?

Hi I have a referbished Mac A1181 4GB ram that currently is using a Fujitsu mhz2160bh ffs g1 Hard drive. I have recently purchased a toshiba mq01abd050. I researched before I brought it, and it seems like all the right specs are in order. I have also purchased a sata to usb cable so I can format the hard drive from my mac. Once I have done that will I be able to plug in the hard drive internally and install El capitan from my usb? Thank you.
