My Bose Soundlink REVOLVE + II Bluetooth speaker (the one with the handle) needs a new battery. When I try to write to Bose, if I include the text "Revolve +", or "Revolve Plus", the Bose server hangs.

I am a university E.E. with substantial electrical engineering background.

The Bose battery began to fail after less than 2 years. A 100% lithium battery should last far longer than 2 years of LIGHT use. The Federal legal definition of a "durable product" is one that lasts, at least, THREE YEARS. Lithium batteries are, legally, DURABLE GOODS.

The Soundlink Revolve + II unit I own, while a brilliant design, looks to have been made with a poor quality battery. I buy Bose products because of their high quality, and Bose's reputation for honest business practise. However, the inferior battery appears to be intentionally built-in obsolescence. The unit is otherwise sturdy and capable of MANY more years of service. Our Earth can longer survive such intentional waste.

Amen to that, couldn't agree more!

Mine too has gone and I can't get that %#*@ screwdriver here in India to open it.

I've replaced the battery on mine, and the experience was extremely frustrating.

It requires a specific screwdriver. The disassembly was quite difficult, and the re-assembly even more.

The battery is soldered on a small PCB and my replacement battery came without that PCB. I don't know how they soldered the two together, but it was very difficult to disassemble (and I do SMT).

After re-assembly, I had some parts that weren't as tight as they should, creating vibrations at high volumes. Obviously waterproofing is lost as well.

To add insult to injury, the new battery only lasted a few months.

I am appalled that such a premium and hard-to-repair product would refuse to work when the battery is empty.

Could you tell me how you dealt with the soldered on parts? I am a quite proficient problem-solver (research chemist) and will resolder if necessary, but have never broken a soldered join (without chemical intervention or on purpose).

As you can guess, I also ordered a replacement battery (after buying the special screwdriver) which came without that PCB.

I am determined to repair this very cool speaker.

Many thanks.
