Why is my playstation 1 (non dualshock) controller not working?

Hi all,

I have an original playstation 1 non dualshock controller that isn’t working on my playstation 2 at all. I have done a continuity check and it has all come back with a reading (apart from the black wire, which I think is ground and won’t read if I am correct?).

There is no obviously damage that I can see to the cord, plastics or circuit board.

Just like to add that my playstation 2 controllers are working fine.

Is there anything I could be missing?

Thank you in advance.

Try moving the controller around while plugged in. Maybe during your continuity check, it is placed on a spot where all connections are making good contact.
