My iMac has a display with “B5” at the end, and the replacement I found has “B2” it seems to be the same so what’s the difference?

those are revision numbers. It may or may not work, depends on the revisions made. You would either need to get the datasheets for both panels and check on it or you can post both numbers here and let us help you with that.
I am assuming that you are looking at a LM240WU2(SL)(B5) 2B4 versus LM240WU2(SL)(B4) 2B2
Okay so here are the datasheets

going through the specs it appears as if there are only different manufacturers for the connectors but the layout and connection appears to be identical. At this point I’d give it a try

Alright, I assume it'll work the same but in my iMac I've got a LM240WU2 (SL)(B5) and found LM240WU2 (SL)(B1) on eBay, I assume they're the same?
If anything the connector might be different I cannot find anything on a (B5) and the highest LG has datasheets on is B4. I'd go for it.
LG made a custom display for Apple with a unique mounting frame. You may need to transfer the frame to the new LCD.
Just one last question since I found a LM240WU2 (SL) (A1) on eBay for cheaper, would it also work? Since apparently it's for a 2006 iMac?
Just checked that datasheet LM240WU2-SLA1 and it looks identical,has the same connectors etc,. Only difference I can find is a slightly lower inverter voltage. No reason not to try it.
