Crackling from dc-in connector

Ok my question very quickly is that I have 2 ibooks, 1 is a working 12.1 g4 and the second is a non working 14.1 g4. Can I take the DC-in board from the 14.1 and put it in the 12.1?

The 12.1 has a new battery and I have both working 45w and 65w chargers but when I plug into the 12.1 there is no glow from either charger and I get a crackling noise sometimes.

Book 12" DC-IN boards

Product code: IF183-030-1

Apple Part #: 922-6461, 922-6130, 922-6647

iBook 14"

Product code: IF184-003-1

Apple Part #: 922-6649, 922-6254, 922-6431

I wouldn't risk putting the wrong part in.

AC Adapters

On this site, both machines call for a 65 watt adapter. My experience has shown that a lower wattage adapter will most times run a machine that requires a higher wattage if the battery is charged. Most of the time it will not charge the battery if the unit is in use but may give it a trickle charge if turned off.
