Whirlpool Washer water is always hot

We were given an older whirlpool washer. We replaced the hoses when we hooked up the machine. The water is always hot. There is water being pulled from both the hot and cold hoses. If I set the washer to COLD it stops, nothing happens. If I set it to COOL nothing happens. If I set it to WARM it will start filling and then I can switch it to COOL, but regardless it is always hot water even if it is pulling from both hoses.

This Whirlpool is older and it doesn’t have a computerized screen or anything.

Does anyone happen to know what is going on? Because of this issue we went through 100 gallons of oil in 2 months, which is really bad for us. I really want a way to wash in cold water. It has come to a finacle point that is is cheaper to go to a laundry mat or someones home than use our oil to wash clothes. 5 kids here, really need a working washer!

Water inlet hose filter is probably clogged up. Here’s a video on how to fix it:

Its not the inlet hose. I have the same problem. It washes on hot when i put it on hot, washes on hot when i put it on cold. my hoses are not crisscrossed. If it did not fill when its set to cold i would understand, but it fills with hot water on both settings. Its not connected to two hot water lines. is there a temp sensor in these machines? is that whats wrong?

I have the same problem. The hot water is usually located on the left on the wall and the cold water on the right and I noticed that when I connect my hoses as it is indicated on the back of the washer, the hoses are crossed. I have done several tests and it seems that the hot and cold indicators located on the back of the washer are wrong. When I reverse them, everything works fine and the hoses are no longer crossed.
