Repair information for computer docking stations. Docking stations act as a hub and charging platform for laptops.

USB-C Thunderbolt male solder

Hi all,

I’ve just got a Dell D6000 dock station with USB-C 3.1 connector. A few days ago my laptop crashed to the floor and broke the type C connector from the cable comming out from the dock station… I was planning to cut the male connector and just solder a new one, but I’m a bit lost. I see there are some USB-C with only 4 pins others with 8, etc..

Can somebody help me with this? I can’t find much info about number of pins etc..

Can you take some pics so we can see the damage and paste them here: Adding images to an existing question

May not be worth soldering new pins, considering how thin the lines are. Try a new cable.

Good luck!
