I spilled honey on my keyboard and continue to seep out of the top. I also messed up some of the keys with trying to clean the honey but that's the least of the problem. The mouse pad is now acting erratic and sometimes do not work. Is this fixable? Or should I just shell out the $ for a new base?

Honey is a solution of sugars. So, it doesnt conduct electricity because it does not have ions or charged particles
so you may be able to get away with cleaning the keyboard with quetips and and 91% or higher Isopropyl alcohol
it is the best compound, to use on computers, laptops or any otherelectronic devices. ... On the other hand since isopropyl alcohol dries quickly, it is selected as preferred method to cleaning electronics.

Also the mouse is more than likely being effected by the viscosity of the honey ..like when you press the mouse..from the pressure of registering a touch
