Trouble disconnecting display connector cable from motherboard.

I am trying to replace the screen on a Lenovo Yoga 720, and one of the steps to remove the motherboard is to disconnect the display connector cable. I am pretty sure I am just supposed to pull upwards on the plastic flaps but they feel like they are going to break. Is that the correct way to disconnect this cable?

The plastic flag can be used to pull the connector, but you should use a plastic tool with a flat tip to loosen both ends of the connector, the plastic flag will help when reconnecting.
