What does .AF mean?

When you push down the flash, it goes off but than it goes off AGAIN and the picture turns out as just a white blob. Why does the flash go off the second time?

Laura Gross, just as a follow up, I was wondering if you got your camera working again.

Not sure about the .AF. It would depend where it shows up on your camera. I do believe that it shows that your Auto Flash is on. The double flash is done by your setup. For Red-eye The flash fires twice—once, then again when the picture is taken. So you should check your manual, available here, and see how to turn it off. I hope this helps, good luck.
