Bluetooth not working on Dell Latitude E6430

On my Dell Latitude E6430 (Windows 10 Home x64 ) I cant find a setting for Bluetooth. In the BIOS Bluetooth is enabled. When I try to install drivers it says activate Bluetooth using wireless switch, but the switch is on.

Hi,

What is the status of the Bluetooth adapter in Device Manager?

Right click on Windows start button and select Device Manager > Bluetooth

If it is not listed click on View > Show hidden devices in Device Manager and check if it now appears.

Have you tried Windows Troubleshooting to check if this resolves the problem?

Go to Control Panel (click on Start button and then type Control Panel in the search box and select the Control Panel app option) > Troubleshooting > Hardware and Sound > Bluetooth

Hi,

Try uninstalling the Bluetooth device in Device Manager (right click on Bluetooth entry) and restart the computer to check if it finds and installs “new” hardware

If it still doesn’t work, here’s a link to the service manual for your computer.

Scroll to p.27 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the Bluetooth card. This is just to see if it is seated correctly.

Hi,

If the Bluetooth hardware entry is no longer showing anywhere in Device Manager (check hidden devices and "Other Devices" entry) and you have verified that Bluetooth is enabled in BIOS you may have to check that the Bluetooth card is connected correctly to the motherboard.

Use the service manual (see link in answer) and scroll to p.27 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the Bluetooth card.

If it appears to be connected OK it may be that the card has failed as it should be detected by the OS on startup. This doesn't mean that it will work as there may be software problems but it should show up in Device Manager.

The card is relatively cheap to replace. Here's a link to a supplier just to give you an idea of the cost of the part.

There are others online that may suit you better.

Just search for Dell Wireless 380 Bluetooth module to get results.

The bluetooth only works when wifi switch is on, can't use it when connected with ethernet. I had same issues mentioned before, I found the bluetooth in hidden devices and I enabled it. Once enabled, I could turn it on and off moving the wifi switch and clicking the option turning the adapter on and off.

Too much trouble, especially because I use ethernet, so I just ordered a bluetooth adapter.

There are 3 most common reasons if your dell Bluetooth driver not working -

  1. Too many devices are connected
  2. Corrupt it outdated Bluetooth driver
  3. Device not in range or not in pairing mode

I can suggest you two methods - Manual or Automatic.

Manual processes it time-consuming and there is a chance for mistakes. I will recommmend for the automatic process, This is less time-consuming and, when your drivers will be outdated, you will get a notification to udate drivers automatically.
