My Hero 3+ Black wifi not working

How hard is it to repair my Hero 3+ Black? One day the wifi decided to stop connecting. GoPro tried to convince me that the only way they could walk me through the fix was with a microSD replacement to an approved card. It works for 2 years and then just dies? That makes no sense. Please help???
