Door lock engages after opening the door

Have a Samsung DW80F600UTB/AA. About 5 years old. Just started to have this issue.

After wash and dry cycle, open the door and a loud noise can be heard. This is what I was told by my wife, I haven’t heard it yet. The door will not close completely once this has occurred. I was able to pull the latch tongue located in the door forward with needle nose pliers. After this, the door will close and open properly again. However perform another wash / dry cycle and the issue repeats.

Does anyone have an idea on how to put the unit into a diagnostic mode to see if there are any error codes for this issue?

@dphelps Dan I searched for an electrical issue and all I found on fixing this issue was to replace the mechanism. You might want to give Repair Clinic a call to verify what to replace. Their 800 number is on the upper left hand of egis page, right next to it is a live chat option  https://www.repairclinic.com

Thanks Mayer, not sure replacing the latch will fix this issue. It seems that the latch may be being told to lock by some other electronics. I'll likely have to get in there and take a look to make sure there isn't a spring that has become broken or disconnected though.

hello! did you ever solve this issue??? i am having the exact same problem. i replaced the door latch because a piece was broken, but it arrived stuck in the lock position and will not unlock even though the door is open! thanks
