Why is my TV continue rolling channels without selecting any .

When the set is switched on the channel numbers flash through even though the appropriate numbers are pressed but do not stop. No warning messages appear. Has been working ok but this problem has just occurred. Batteries in remote have been changed but to no avail.

Hi @cocky ,

Have you tried removing the batteries from the remote control to see if this stops the channels rolling?

If it does then you have a faulty remote. Probably a stuck channel Up or Down button depending on which direction the channel numbers are going.

If it still occurs, are there any other remotes in the same room at all? If so either remove them from the room or disable them and check if the problem stops.

It could also be a faulty channel button on the TV button control board (are the channels numbers rolling up or down?) or a faulty IR sensor board that is the cause of the problem.

Disconnect the power from the TV and then remove the back cover and check if you can see the cable(s) connecting the TV button board and the IR sensor to the mainboard.

Disconnect one of the cables, (button board or IR board) probably easier at the mainboard connector end and then reconnect the power and check what happens.

Be careful when disconnecting that you don’t pull the wires from the connector. Study the connector before removing to see how it is works so that you don’t damage it when removing the cable. Some have latches that need to be flipped up, others have pull tabs etc.

If still no good, disconnect the power from the TV reconnect the first cable disconnected and then disconnect the other cable, reconnect the power and check what happens.
