Trying to reinstall OS X lion

Hi I had a very small wine spill on keyboard ,I immediately turned it upside down disconnected battery and hardrive connections and left in airing cupboard for 2 days ..powered it up and it came on straight away connected to WiFi and all seemed good so tried to reinstall OS X and had all sorts problems saying disc locked etc etc this was when trying to reinstall Mac OS X El Capitan and now somehow it’s trying to install Mac OS X Lion but it’s saying select disc but there is no disc available…any ideas ,thanks

Just one thing does it sound like the hard drive is ruined…anyone think it would be worth me buying another hd

Hi I am not good with computers at all ..sorry ..I just turned it on after it dried out and I got the reinstall option after pressing the 2 buttons on the left of space bar and the r ..I think maybe I should take it to a shop but I enjoy tinkering around with things I don’t understand but getting nowhere…so maybe I need to stick to plastering walls ..thanks for reply

Hi,

This MacBook model can’t run OS X El Capitan (Model A1181). It may be worth buying a new hard drive if you can get one for under $20 used. However, software support for this machine is non existent so maybe you should consider an upgrade.

Hi ithink it’s os x lion that’s what is coming on when I try to do a reinstall…just one thing do I need a disc to put in the side. My son said I don’t as it’s built in to the laptop. If I do we’re can I get one thanks.

It sounds like you are booting into OS X Utilities. You can download OS X if you have before through this tool. You can always check eBay for OS X Lion Copies just make sure that it is compatible with your model. I wouldn’t pay any more that $15 for a copy.
