How to make a new housing

Has anyone tried to make a new housing for their soundsticks? my soundsticks are falling apart, wiring and housing, and I want to fix them. I’m also thinking about hooking them to an 18v battery from a drill and make them portable.

Has anyone tried anything like this before and if so have you any advice?

I have moved your answer to become a question as it was on an old thread and unrelated to the original question. Hope someone knows the answer.
